This exercise will introduce you to the normal and pathologic microanatomy of the endocrine glands.
First observe the normal microanatomy from Bergman, Afifi, & Heidger, Atlas of Microscopic Anatomy,
Endocrine Glands.
Read the introductory page, and then flip through each plate (15.279–15.296),
studying the image and reading the accompanying text.
Next, go to the endocrine pathology index page
viewing each example. Flip back and forth between normal and pathologies to appreciate the differences.
Finally, try out two or three of these endocrinology quizzes:
Histology Test Bank
Histology Testbank: Endocrine System Test 1
Histology Testbank: Endocrine System Test 2
Histology Testbank: Endocrine System Test 3
Histology Testbank: Endocrine System Test 4
Histology Testbank: Endocrine System Test 5
Histology Testbank: Endocrine System Test 6
Histology Testbank: Endocrine System Test 7
For an introduction to endocrine pathology, look at the links
from Jim Martindale’s “Virtual” Medical Center.
Finally, take the endocrine quiz.
To make this meaningful, take a piece of paper, print your name and < Endocrine quiz > on it,
and then write down each of your choices for the 15 questions. Put this aside, as you will
be handing it in to me next week. When done, then use the < Mark > feature of the quiz;
it will inform you if you are correct or not.
